Flush-Mounted Panel Screw Components

The flush-mounted panel screw components referenced on this page can be ordered and used separately or as a set from JHP Fasteners. These captive panel screw components have the advantage of remaining captive to panel and frame when unassembled. These industrial fasteners are available in a variety of base materials and thread sizes (inch and metric).

Flush-mounted panel screw components are broken down as follows:

• Flush-mounted screw
• Flush-mounted retainer
• Self-clinching nut

The properties of the above individual components:

Material: The flush-mounted screw and flush-mounted retainer are both fabricated from 300 series stainless steel (finished per Passivated ASTM A380). The self-clinching nut is fabricated from heat-treated carbon steel (finished in Zinc clear, ASTM B633-85).

Suitable for use in: Materials with Rockwell Hardness of B-70 or less.

Application notes:
All of the panel screw components will remain captive to panel and frame when unassembled. The captive panel screws will remain flush in sheets as thin as .125” (3.2mm). In cases where thin panel material requires the captive screw head to finish above the panel surface (i.e. not flush); the screw can be used with a flush nut as a retainer. The flush nut will self-clinch into sheet thicknesses of .060” (1.5mm) or more, and will remain flush on both sides of the applicable panel. The screw is rotated through the threads of the flush nut to install and captivate.
