LIVING THE DREAM...ONE SPIKE AT A TIME

2009 SEASON

dOne more season is in the books.    Another great season with quality play throughout.   Overall the season was a success.    There were some hurdles to overcome but Eastside was able to address the issues and present resolutions.   Some players were displeased with Eastside's format while others just thought the administration needed an overhaul.      In the end though, the majority of Eastside players remain in good standing and will be asked to continue play in the 2010 season.     Thanks again for all who played and contributed to Eastside's success.

10/5                        Toe-freeze KOTB                                        EVA - Lowell, MI

Players - E / Clint / TB / Keith   -  The four toughest studs braved the elements to get 6 games of 25 in.   Tbone ended up with the win.

2009 EASTSIDE FALL CLASSIC

Players - E / TB / Clint / Chad / Jake / Keith / Charlie  - As the dew dissipated off the grass, the Eastside boys hit the sand for what would be the final KOTB of the 2009 season.    All eyes were on the players as matches began at 1:23 p.m.   The matches were intense and massive bombs were being dropped hourly.   Jake took the top spot as match play ended.    Clint, who was just happy to make it to the playoffs,  ended up going 3-0 to take the coveted prize.   Food and fun followed the tournament.   Wives and fans flocked to what was to become the hottest scene this side of Larkins.    The #2 DJ in the northeast side of Lowell provided some of the dopest drops ever heard.    An insane crowd jirated, grinded, and pumped their crotches to the sounds of sick beats and nasty bass.     The cops were called due to reports of illegal moves on the dance floor as well.   Thanks goesout to  Clint for running the sound board and creating a play list this city has never heard.    Thanks again to the Nausiedas for not only putting on the most awesomest tourney ever, but for all they have done this season and previous seasons in making Eastside the greatest volleyball association this world has ever seen.

Clint reaches the top

9/23           4 Man Action                                                                       Lowell, MI                       EVA

Players - E / TB / Clint / Keith - E and Keith each went 4-2.   In the end Keith won on points.

9/16          5 Man Wed Night KOTB                                                   Lowell, MI                        EVA

Players - E / Keith / Woods / Nick / Clint  - The boys got in one good round before dark and finished the second round by moonlight.    TB was out due to family commitments and a pulled scrodum.     E was able to dominate without his lifetime partner there to hold him back.    His positive energy swept through the sand and everyone had a great time.

9/9            5 Man Wed Night KOTB                                                    Lowell, MI                        EVA

Players - E / TB / Clint / Keith / Woods  -    Woods came straight from 18 holes of golf and was unable to remain focused due to the alcohol in his system.    E won the night by a couple points over Keith.

9/6                31st Midwest Championships                                      Muskegon, MI                    Inside Out

Sun: Coed 2s AA/A

Players - TB/Arielle Nausieda  -  The up and coming duo started slow, losing their first match of the day.   But they rebounded nicely after that, winning 6 of their next 7 matches to reach the finals.    There, they met two established professionals who were too much for the young pair.   Although TBone blocked Russ Ettinger twice he was unable to stop the 22 other slams.   Arielle dug up some tough shit, but TBone's fingertips over the net was not enough to slow the massive blows.   Each event they've played, they've improved.   2010 may be their best summer yet.

9/2             4 Team 40 oz Guzzlefest                                                   Lowell, MI                        EVA

Players - TB/E$ - Jake/Clint - Than/Keith - Woods/Wade - Clear skies created a beautiful atmosphere of picturesque tranquility.     Clint provided the 40 oz bottles of Schlitz for the boy's pleasure.   The smooth malt provided just the right amount of pop to mellow the Eastsiders and play their best.    In the end, Keith and Than took the top spot once again.    Clint and TB stuck around to dead lift a fridge and talk about September 19/20 overnight super weekend tournament.

8/30           6 MAN KOTB                                                                       Lowell, MI                         EVA

Players - Keith, TB, E$, Jake, Chad, and Than - Perfect conditions for an epic battle of the Eastside elite.   Chad returned to show he still had what it took.   And he did.     All six players were at the top of their games, but Keith played flawless volleyball in route to his dominating performance.   It is clear that he is like a fine bottle of wine.....as he ages he only gets better.    Pasta a beer followed the event with great times had by all.   Thanks again to the Nausiedas for hosting the event.

Bombs Away!!!

8/26            3 Team Battle Royal                                                             Lowell, MI                        EVA

Players - TB/E  - Woods/Clint  - Keith/Than  - Players came out to prepare for Sundays Eastside KOTB.    Keith and Than once again dominated the night.   Than's raw power and Keiths precision were too much for the other players to defend.   Than treated the vball like it was his little bitch and Keith suckled the ball like a new mother breast-feeding her newborn.

8/19           4-man Scramble                                                                     Lowell, MI                        EVA

Players - TB - Woods - Jake - Than  - Without the president running the show very few came to play.   But the 4 players that did come, came to kick ass.   After the dust settled, only one opened his can of woop-ass though.   That player was Chris Woods.   He went undefeated during KOTB action.    After a few brews, the players headed home.   Without thinking Woods sped home to tell his wife of his domination.   A local officer clocked him going 59 in a 35 and pulled him over.   The stench of beer, sweat and bo was evident to the officer and he began administering a series of tests to ensure Chris was under the legal limit.   Reports have come out that Woods was a little disrespectful and obnoxious to the officer, but after barley passing the tests, he was allowed to head home.   Eastside is looking into investing in an onsite breath-alizer.

8/12           Dollar Team Challenge                                                       Lowell, MI                     Eastside VB                             1-800-eat-shit

Players - E/T - Nick/Woods - Kevin/Wade - Clint/Jake - Brian/Nate - Keith/Than  - full house of players came to fight for their right to party.   Once the dust settled it was E/T vs Keith/Than in the finals.   There K and T were able to humiliate E and T from the get go.   Each player put $1 into the pot to make the stakes higher than normal.  Most were unable to come up with the money so the winners basically lost money on the night if you take into consideration the gas money it takes to get to Eastside.

Players - E/T - Hard rains and wind created an atmosphere of mayhem for the boys who are accustomed to indoor conditions.   They played some of the worst volleyball of their careers as they squeaked into the playoffs and were defeated immediately.       Fun times after at Kirby's where they were able to have some custom pizzas and Moheetoes.

Players- Nick Conran/Eric Johnstone - The boys had a decent showing but ended up not winning it all.  No other info was provided.   Nick did attend the players party.

Players - TB/Arielle Nausieda -  Playing their first tourney together, T and A decided to take baby steps as they climb the co-ed latter of dominance.  Starting slowly they were able to get out of pool play to reach the playoffs.  Once there, they played to near perfection as they dominated their opponents to take the B crown.

Players - Nick Conran/Gwen Tubergen - The two played well and made it to the open finals were they lost to the best woman player in Michigan.  Ed provided comic relief on the sidelines to keep the atmosphere pleasant.

8/5                            Eastside Wed Night Play                                    Lowell, MI

Players - E/T - Jake/Wade - Nate/Kevin - Nick/Woods -  4 teams came out to see who could bring the pain.  E and T were able to run the table to reach the finals undefeated.  After taking the first game in a best of three final, the boys fell short in game two.   They were able to gather themselves and dominate the final 15 point game.  Newcomer Kevin popped on the scene and with some sand time will eventually become a force to be reckoned with.   All players played well and fun times were had by all.

7/29                          Eastside Wed Night Play                                    Lowell, MI

Players -   E/T - Than/Keith - Brian/Nate - Jake/Woods - Full turnout for Wed night action.   Keith and Than took the crown in a 3 game finale.   E and T were unable to stop the duo's offensive assault.    Jake and Woods pairing was solid as they defeated the nights champion in early pool play.   Brian and Nate played well but were unable to overcome the darkness.

7/26                                    Eastside Sunday Open                                                                                                                     Lowell, MI

Players - Ed/Tbone  -  Than/Jake  - 3 best of 3 matches were played with E&T winning the final game to take the night.   All played well with the exception of Jake and Than getting a case of the giggles during play.    Looking into possibly implementing a redo option if a player burps during the serve and it causes them to pass poorly as well.

7/22                          Eastside Volleybeer                                                                                    Lowell, MI

Players - Ed Nausieda/Tbone Brinks - Clint Smith/Jake Chapman - Keith Hinkle /Than Dejonge (dq)   - Wet conditions caused Keith and Than to quit playing.  The other two teams played a best of 7 WTA series.   E and T ending up taking the top spot with massive spikes and precise serving.
